Film It Up

Film It Up is an after-school filmmaking program that empowers young storytellers from underserved communities to create their own short narrative films. Through hands-on experience and mentorship, participants gain technical filmmaking skills while building confidence and developing personal skills that prepare them for future success.

The program is structured into three key phases:

Pre-Production

  • Learn the art of storytelling by developing scripts, storyboards, and production plans.
  • Collaborate to cast actors, scout locations, and prepare for shooting.

Production

  • Operate professional-grade cameras, lighting, and sound equipment to bring stories to life.
  • Work as a team to direct, act, and manage on-set responsibilities.

Post-Production

  • Edit footage using industry-standard software, adding sound, music, and visual effects.
  • Refine the final product for public screenings and film festivals.

By the end of Film It Up, participants will have created a polished short film and gained a deep understanding of filmmaking roles, from directors and writers to editors and cinematographers. Equipped with technical expertise and essential life skills, graduates of the program will be ready to pursue their passion for storytelling on the silver screen and beyond.
