Stories in Focus Film Bootcamp

The Stories in Focus Film Bootcamp is a summer film production program designed for teens and young adults aged 16–24 from high-poverty areas. This intensive, four-week program fosters creativity, technical expertise, and community storytelling by partnering with local high schools.

Program Details

Schedule

Runs 20 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, typically from the second week of July to the first week of August.

Skill Development

Participants gain hands-on experience in:

- Camera operation and sound recording
- Lighting equipment techniques
- Video editing with professional software
- Producing short documentary films on relevant topics

Unique Features

Earning While Learning

All participants earn minimum wage-equivalent stipends for their work and dedication.

Spotlight Showcase

The program culminates in a public screening, where students showcase their films to family, friends, and the community.

Through this bootcamp, participants build technical filmmaking skills while exploring meaningful issues that impact their lives and neighborhoods, making a lasting impact on themselves and their communities.
