I signed up for Film It Up because I’ve always been curious about using a real camera. Like, I’ve taken pictures with my phone and stuff, but I wanted to see what it’s like to actually be behind the lens for real. My parents are always hyping me up, saying I take good pictures of people, so I thought, ‘Why not give this a shot?’

Plus, photography seemed like it could be fun—and who knows, maybe even turn into something that pays well someday. The program was way more than I expected. I learned how to frame shots, set up angles, and tell stories through pictures. It wasn’t just fun—it made me realize how powerful photography can be. Now, I feel like I’ve got a real skill I can build on, and I’m excited about where it could take me.

I joined the Veronica Arts Media program because I wanted to learn filmmaking—not just how to work a camera, but how to tell stories and bring them to life. Filmmaking has always felt like the perfect way for me to express myself, but my family didn’t really see it as a career. They thought it was just a hobby or something I wouldn’t stick with.

After going through the program, though, everything changed. I learned so much about filmmaking, from camera skills to storytelling, and I got to create something that I’m really proud of. When my family saw the work I did, they started to believe in my passion for media arts. Now they’re even supporting me in pursuing it in college!

This program didn’t just teach me skills—it gave me the confidence to follow my dreams and prove to myself (and my family) that I can do this. I’m so hyped for what’s next!

When I first joined the Veronica Arts Media program, I was honestly hoping there’d be some medical-related options since that’s the field I’m most interested in. But I’ve also always had a curiosity about cinema, so I thought, ‘Why not give it a shot?’

The program ended up being such a great experience. I learned so much about the media world and developed skills I didn’t even know I had. It pushed me to think creatively and to see the connections between storytelling and real-world issues—even in fields like medicine.

Now I feel like I’ve expanded my abilities and have a whole new perspective on how media can be used to make an impact.

From the first day, I realized there’s so much more to the industry than just being in front of the camera. Learning about filmmaking gave me a whole new perspective on how everything comes together—directing, editing, storytelling. It made me want to know it all so I can really build my future in this space.

This opportunity wasn’t just about trying something new; it helped me figure out if this is what I want to do long-term. Now, I feel more confident about pursuing my passion, and I’m excited to keep learning and growing in the industry.

Before joining the Film It Up program, I was shy and unsure of myself, but learning to write scripts, use a camera, and edit videos showed me that I have a voice worth sharing. Seeing my film on the big screen at the showcase made me realize I can inspire others, and now I dream of becoming a director one day.

Working together, we created a short film. Learning how to write scripts, use professional equipment, and edit footage taught us skills we never thought we’d master. Seeing our film celebrated at the showcase was an unforgettable moment, and now we’re inspired to pursue careers in filmmaking and continue telling stories that matter. We now have a youtube channel.
